Lola Aster's products are made of recycled and new materials in order to create new images.

"Simplicity is beauty," Aster says. "I make a variety of simple products - my crafts are sewing, crochet, mixed media and painting."

Aster is so happy to share her ideas and creations with the customers. She wants the buyers to feel good when they see her products.

"Lola" means "Oma / Großmutter" in Tagalog. The "lola" in the Philippines is one of the most important persons in the family. She is the story-teller, keeper of knowledge and counselor - "hingahan ng sama ng loob" - of the family.

Many women in the Philippines cannot express and materialize their creativity because they lack resources. Their role is to take care of the children.

So, Aster is not a "typical" lola as she has no biological children of her own - but her creations are for everybody who appreciates them.
